OWA’s founder, Ms. Cheng Ong, began her career as research associate for Professor Michael E. Porter at Harvard Business School serving as the principal researcher for The Competitive Advantage of Nations and later as a strategy consultant with Porter's Monitor Company. Working with Porter at the inception of cluster strategy provided Ms. Ong with unique insight and expertise in cluster diagnostics and strategy formulation. Recruited by The World Bank to develop a new practice in competitiveness and industry clusters Ms. Ong launched the Bank’s first cluster development project. Following her tenure at The World Bank, she founded her consulting firm to advise organizations and governments on competitiveness and economic ecosystem enablement. Ms. Ong has led numerous projects on competitiveness and clusters around the world. As the Country Lead on Malaysia’s Second Industrial Master Plan (IMP2) she proposed the world’s first “halal” cluster, originating the global "Halal Hub,” resulting in a world leading USD13 billion export cluster for Malaysia.
Co-founder Paul Wittrock has over thirty years' experience in management, consulting, business development, and venture backed technology startups with specialized expertise in enterprise IT product and service development and managed health care delivery system consulting. In 1999 Wittrock founded venture backed FitSync Corp. based on his U.S. patent launching the world’s first integrated mobile cloud application for fitness and healthcare. FitSync’s enterprise platform has been deployed throughout Asia by the world's largest fitness club chain and is used by leading clubs, trainers, coaches and physios worldwide. Prior to founding FitSync Wittrock was Vice President and Managed Care Practice Leader for a national consulting firm.
